Summer Solstice 2021🌞

On June 20th people living in the Northern Hemisphere will experience the longest day of the year – the Summer Solstice.

It also happens to be Father’s Day! So don’t forget to acknowledge anyone who plays that special role in your life.

Traditionally, people celebrated light, life, fertility, and the potential for a good harvest on the Summer Solstice. Today, people around the world still celebrate the arrival of summer with outdoor feasts, singing, dancing, and bonfires.

The Sun will enter the Cardinal sign of Cancer at 11:32 pm ET. The timing of the June solstice is not based on a specific calendar date or time; it all depends on when the Sun reaches its northernmost point from the celestial equator. Therefore, the solstice will not always occur on the same day. Currently, it shifts between June 20th, 21st, and 22nd.

Earlier in the day, the planet Jupiter begins Retrograde motion on its journey back from Pisces into Aquarius on July 28th.

So, let’s look to the retrograde word - reevaluate - for this next period of time. Especially in the Jupiterian area of laws and belief systems. After the last 18 months, we all have a lot of questions.

The Plant Magick of Summer Solstice by Melisa Kennedy

Gather together or even alone to celebrate the abundance and beauty of Mother Earth. One especially potent way to honor summer can be through plant-based celebrations using good green witchery! Think Hallmark's Good Witch movies on steroids.

Good Natural Foods for Summer Solstice:

  • Hawthorn (tea)

  • Calendula (tea)

  • Mint (add to your favorite dish or make a tea)
